Post-doctoral Research Assistant in Climate Impacts Modelling (Full time, fixed term for 3 years)

“CCAFS: Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security”

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who would work well in a team of researchers as part of a major international programme aimed at overcoming the threats posed by a changing climate food security. The programme is funded by multiple donors, though the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and in partnership with the Earth System Science Partnership (ESSP). The programme is intended to run for a ten-year period and consists of six themes. The focus of this post is the theme “Adapting to progressive climate change.”

In addition to being part of a major international collaborative venture, you will join an enthusiastic and motivated School at Leeds, in particular a growing team of collaborative researchers who develop and use modelling techniques to assess the impacts of climate variability and change.

You will have a PhD in some aspect of environmental modelling and/or agricultural systems. You will be able to use models and data as tools to develop understanding and assess likely outcomes. You will be motivated, have excellent communication and networking skills and be able to work as part of a team that is distributed across a number of locations globally. Under the guidance of the group leader, Dr. Andy Challinor, you will be expected to carry out the modelling work and analysis associated with the project. You will also play a strong role in fulfilling the CCAFS objectives, writing research papers, and presenting your research at national and international meetings.
