The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is looking for a
Short Term Expert for Health Center Construction and Water Supply
for 6 months
to be based in Unity State, South Sudan

Roles and responsibilities:
• Professional planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of health and water infrastructure for approximately 30’000 people
• Monitoring and controlling of all construction activities, material quality, project costs, work processes and timely completion
• Management and supervision of local staff in a culturally sensitive environment
• Overseeing and advising budgets and transparent and accountable finance management
• Coordination and networking with the South Sudan Red Cross and other partner agencies, local authorities and other stakeholders on site
• Progress monitoring, regular narrative and financial reporting and elaboration of project documentation.
• Support to South Sudan Red Cross and Swiss Red Cross in disaster assessment if required by circumstances.

Requirements:
• University degree and/or professional qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering, Architecture or related technical field
• Minimum of 3 years international working experience as supervisor or technical ad-visor for construction and in capacity building in developing countries including site supervision in a post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation context
• Demonstrated experience in construction administration systems and procedures, in particular control of works and financial management
• Experience in the region as well as in Water-Sanitation would be assets
• Diplomacy, tact, team spirit, leadership qualities and negotiation skills are essential
• Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to adapt to challenging working envi-ronments under fragile security conditions
• Very good written and spoken English is essential (working language)
• Familiarity with Red Cross Movement is an advantage

Conditions: 6 months with the option of extension, starting as soon as possible or according to agreement. Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses pro-vided. No family posting.
