Staff Reporting:
None at present but more team members would be added in due course based on the expansion of organisation’s requirements.

About Swayam Krishi Sangam (SKS):
SKS NGO was established in the year 1998 by Vikram Akula with a vision to “Eradicate Poverty in India” presently working in two states of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa with two flagship initiatives: Ultra Poor Programme and Education. In Vikram’s own words on why he started SKS "because I was overwhelmed by the poverty I saw in India and was looking for a way to catalyze rapid economic development for the poor." He was listed by TIME Magazine in 2006 as one amongst the 100 most influential people. He is also the recipient of Echoing Green Public Service Entrepreneur Fellowship as well as Karmaveer Puraskar in 2007. Vikram Akula is also the Founder of SKS Micro Finance Ltd., an organization that offers micro loans and insurance to poor women in impoverished areas of India. It is the biggest MFI in India and is the only listed MFI in India.

Job Summary:
1. Expert knowledge of relevant communications environment
2. Management of a network of relationships across a wide range of internal and external partnerships and alliances so as to ensure consistency of messaging across a range of information and communication needs (advocacy, media, marketing, internal communications, etc).
3. Knowledge of the Indian & AP context and organisational communication environment (internal and external)
4. High levels of creativity and innovation in development of communication and media products
5. Design and implementation of programme communication strategy
6. Ability to provide specialist guidance to teams on a range of communication solutions
7. Make recommendations on decisions concerning corporate risk in relation to communication and media.
8. Ability to collate, analyse, and communicate complex programme information to a wide range of audiences in an easily accessible manner

Qualifications / Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Excellent communication skills in English (Telugu will be highly desirable). Good knowledge of Hindi would be an advantage with the ability to convey complex information in a straightforward, interesting, and motivating manner
2. Knowledge of AP and national mass media, with a track record of success and results achieved.
3. Ability to simplify complex programme information and terminologies into comprehendible form for the benefit of non-technical target groups.
4. Ability to network with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders in a diverse cultural and organisational environment
5. Capacity to translate detailed information into attractive and accessible communications products for targeted audiences
6. Ability to work in a geographically dispersed team in a fast growing organisation.
7. Strong interpersonal skills coupled with political awareness, to establish and maintain effective working relations with people with divergent areas of priority and levels of responsibility
8. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with speed and accuracy
9. A relevant professional qualification and at least three year’s experience in the communication/media field
10. Well developed computer literacy with experience of electronic based communication
11. Availability and ability to travel frequently and at short notice, including to remote locations
12. There will be a requirement for some out of hours work and weekend work in order to respond promptly media enquiries
13. At times of emergencies and ‘on call’ arrangement may be necessary.

Technical
* Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of the local language / Hindi will be an advantage
* Good knowledge of using the Internet, MS-Office and other relevant tools.

Required Education and Experience:
* Relevant degree and qualifications
* Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in a similar assignment
* Familiarity with the demands and requirements of a Not-for-Profit Organisation.
