IMaCS invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Women’s Empowerment Consultant based in Moradabad to provide coordination and technical support to the women’s empowerment component of the project: ‘Protecting Child Rights in the metal ware communities in Moradabad’, in collaboration and coordination with governmental and non-governmental partners in the field and with UN Agency office to ensure that activities planned in the annual action plan are completed to achieve planned results.
Details of tasks
Under the technical guidance of the communication for development officer, UN Agency Lucknow and overall supervision of Child Protection Officer, UN Agency Lucknow, and in close collaboration with government departments concerned and civil society representatives/partners, the Women Empowerment Consultant will perform the following tasks:
• Organise 200 women groups around the socio-economic issues comprising key household and service seeking behavior and credit-thrift activities linked to government schemes for SHGs
• Coordinate and facilitate training of women groups on forming Women Groups, basic concepts of group building processes ,social leadership skills, group dynamics, interpersonal communication and 10 point agenda
• Coordinate and facilitate training of change agents and adolescent girls on interpersonal communication and 10 point agenda
• Develop a mechanism to measure the impact of ten point agenda training on household level as well as among the community as a whole
• Coordinate and facilitate gender training of men and boys from households of women group to promote role of women in decision making
• Coordinate with the district project team , including NGO implementing partners, in effective and timely implementation of the agreed action plans. Build linkages among NGO partners and ensure exchange of good practices and sharing of lessons through joint coordination meetings or other platform.
• Link the relevant government urban development schemes targeted at slum populations, including adolescent girls and boys with the action plans developed for mohallas
The Women’s empowerment consultant’s direct supervisor will be the Child Protection Officer, UN Agency Lucknow Office. The Women empowerment consultant’s technical supervisor will be the Communication for development officer, UN Agency Lucknow. The Women empowerment consultant will also work in good coordination with Project Coordinator, Education consultant and Data Support Officer based in Moradabad
Qualification and Experience:
• Post-graduate degree in social work; social sciences; development studies; urban studies; or gender studies.
• Five years or more working in the development sector, with a strong focus on participatory approaches; rights based approaches; and integrated approaches to addressing development.
• Strong background working on women groups and gender issues, especially in the context of marginalized sections.
• Experience working with government service delivery mechanisms & government line departments concerned with social & child development
• Strong background working with marginalized sections, particularly in slum areas.
• Knowledge of various Government sponsored urban development schemes.
• Good understanding of child rights and protection issues, especially in the context of family – based or non – institutional care of children who are exploited, experience violence, or abused.
• Strong report writing and monitoring skills.
• Good oral and written command over Hindi and English
Contract Duration and Appointment:
Initially for one year, but renewable based on satisfactory performance. The professional fee would be upto Rs 60000 per month depending on the experience and qualification. Interested candidate may
