IMaCS is a consulting firm with more than 15 years of experience in executing consulting assignments across diverse sectors in India and overseas. IMaCS has been engaged by an UN Agency to provide consultancy support to various programmes.
IMaCS invites application from qualified candidates for the position of Advocacy and Media Consultant for Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD). The primary objective of the consultancy is to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate social and behaviour change communication strategies for communication unit in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The role and responsibilities of the consultant are as follows
• Identify/define/ assess media gaps, needs and priorities, also based on the work done by the Consultant on Social and Behaviour Change Communication
• Devise a strategic framework giving guidelines on advocacy approaches and media use to support MWCD programmes
• Provide technical support and guidance to agencies producing communication materials for various media on issues related to women and children, including malnutrition, Infant and Young Child feeding (IYCF), ICDS, child marriage, child rights, violence against women, women’s empowerment and women’s livelihoods. This would include TV and radio spots, print advertisements and outdoor materials, interpersonal communication, as well as design agencies and producers of documentary films etc.
• Develop partnerships with media and position relevant MWCD programmes in the media
• Develop media briefs, press releases, op-eds, talking points, briefing notes etc.
• Provide strategic advice in developing messages for advocacy and media communication
• Write clear briefs and develop terms of reference for various communication activities related to the above issues
• Assist in defining and monitoring the selection process aimed at contracting media agencies to design and implement communication initiatives
• Assist in organising media events and briefings - e.g. for breastfeeding week, girl child day and other special occasions
Qualifications and experience:
• Familiarity with the national and state level media environments in India
• Proven experience in developing partnerships with media and positioning organisations and programmes in the media
• Proven experience in media planning and the ability to provide comprehensive guidance for the development of effective media plans
• Ability to write concisely and effectively to high standard of quality (e.g. press releases, op-eds, briefing notes, talking points, advertisement copy)
• Experience in message development for advocacy and media communication
• Experience in the development and production of communication materials for various media – television, radio, online, print, outdoor
• Ability to write clear briefs and develop terms of reference for various communication activities
• Experience in organising media events and briefings - e.g. for breastfeeding week, girl child day and other special occasions
