Academy for Educational Development (AED) is seeking for a communications manager to implement programs to increase the use of pharmaceutical products in India. Position based in New Delhi. AED is a not-for-profit working with private sector partners to reach the base-of-the-pyramid (lower income Indians), both rural and urban. This project will work largely with informal health providers, chemists and caregivers.
Tasks include:
• Oversee the development of an overall project strategic communications plan
• Supervise multiple campaigns for various target audiences across several states within India
• Foster relationships with public and private-sector counterparts to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate BCC strategies
• Identify, develop, implement and monitor appropriate health professional, chemist and consumer approaches to change and maintain behaviors, including simple monitoring and evaluation systems to assess the impact of IEC interventions
• Understand behavior of doctors, other health professionals, chemists and rural medical practitioners for product adoption and continued use
• Consult with public sector, NGOs, multilaterals and other key opinion leaders to ensure their input and buy-in is obtained for BCC materials
• Co-develop metrics and evaluation plan for each product launched
Requirements: Extensive communications experience, including past proven behavior change of health professionals and consumers. Understanding of public, private and NGOs critical for long-term success
Skills & Abilities:
• Communications, advertising or marketing experience
• Experience reaching base-of-the-pyramid (or lower-income consumers) highly desirable
• Ability to interact with a broad range of people, including private sector, public sector, NGOs and key opinion leaders
• Organized and able to set priorities, meet deadlines, able to multi-task, excellent leadership and management skills
• Consistently demonstrate ability to make decisions/choices without direct supervision, yet ability to listen to project manager
• Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate complex relationships between organizations and individuals, and to interact smoothly and effectively with clients, colleagues, and the public, with an emphasis on client service
• Understanding and knowledge of current trends in communications and behavior change
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Fluent English and Hindi. Gujarati is desirable
• Proficient in MS Office
