Academy for Educational Development (AED) is looking for a Private sector Manager to implement programs to increase the use of pharmaceutical products in Gujarat. Position based in Ahmedabad. AED is a not-for-profit working with private sector partners to reach the base-of-the-pyramid (lower income Indians), both rural and urban. This project will work largely with informal health providers, chemists and caregivers.
Tasks include:
• Understand the pharmaceutical sector, including new product introduction and creating demand for them.
• Knowledge of consumer product marketing also desirable
• Knowledge of promotion and marketing to doctors, other health providers, chemists and rural medical providers
• Developing and ensuring marketing plans are implemented at scale
• Developing partnerships with pharmaceutical companies
• Significant abilities to manage a complex and multi-part project to create demand for pharmaceutical products
• Ability to manage multiple partner organizations, including both for-profit and not-for-profits, conducting numerous activities across Gujarat
• Consult with public sector, NGOs, multilaterals and other key opinion leaders to ensure their buy-in on private sector product and marketing decisions
• Co-develop metrics and evaluation plan for each product launched
Requirements: Extensive private sector and marketing experience with pharmaceutical products in Gujarat, and an understanding of private sector, supply chains, public sector and NGOs.
Skills & Abilities:
• At least 10 years experience with pharmaceuticals or consumer products. Experience with rural sales desirable. Experience in Gujarat highly desirable.
• Must be willing to travel more than 50%of the time
• Ability to interact with a broad range of people, including private sector, public sector, NGOs and key opinion leaders
• Organized and able to set priorities, meet deadlines, able to multi-task, excellent leadership and management skills
• Consistently demonstrate ability to make decisions/choices without direct supervision, yet ability to listen to project manager
• Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate complex relationships between organizations and individuals, and to interact smoothly and effectively with clients, colleagues, and the public, with an emphasis on client service
• Understanding and knowledge of current trends in public-private partnerships and marketing
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Fluent English and Hindi, Fluent Gujarati highly desirable
• Proficient in MS Office
