Land Tenure Specialist

Chemonics seeks a land tenure specialist for an anticipated three-year, USAID-funded project to support the Liberian government to develop and test methodologies for resolving land disputes. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include: collaborate closely with donor agencies and multiple stakeholders; manage complex land administration projects in areas including customary land tenure systems, community-based adjudication of land disputes, public outreach on land rights issues, and participatory land use planning.
Qualifications:
-Advanced degree in a land tenure-related field or related social science; doctoral degree preferred
-Minimum seven years of experience working on land tenure issues
-Experience with USAID projects and knowledge of U.S. government procedures and regulations
-Experience with customary legal environments and evaluating the impact of customary law on land use in rural areas
-Experience working in Africa, particularly in Liberia or other post-conflict zone highly desirable
-Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatility
-Fluency in English required
