Background
Our Client is a for profit social enterprise in India that focuses on
developing and delivering low-cost irrigation solutions to small farmers.
Their mission is to distribute and market products that help smallholder
farmers to increase their available income and earn their way out of
poverty. With a range of different products primarily in drip tape, micro
sprinklers, fertilizer tanks and flexible water storage tanks, our
client’s strategy is to leverage rural market forces. The leadership team
is working towards building an organization which will make a profound
social impact through economic growth of smallholder farmers.
Job Overview
The organization started 3 years back and has been growing at a rate of
100% every year. The current role requires reaching a revenue target of
100 crores by 2015. Increase incomes of over one million smallholder
farmers through drip irrigation solutions. Build a quality conscious
supplier base across multiple states in India. Build a retail network to
serve smallholder farmers in product selection, installation and after
sales. Expand operations from a current base of 5,000 to 40,000 villages.
Expand operations from 3 to 15 countries in East Africa, South Asia and
Central America. In 3 years the organization has shown 100% growth every
year. The role requires –

To reach a revenue target of 120 crores by 2015.

Build a quality conscious supplier base across multiple states in India.

Expand retail operations in sales and service to increase from a current
base of 5,000 to 40,000 villages

Determine the long-term strategic objectives of the business in
conjunction with the Board.
·
Ensure business growth through directing and managing the business
activities and to ensure this delivered in accordance with the
organizational strategy.

Ensure effective achievement through the leadership of the organization,
by setting clear objectives in order to maximize individual and
departmental performance.
Candidate Profile
The CEO is invested with broad responsibilities and authorities. Portions
of these can be delegated downward, with an overall exclusive
responsibility of the sustainability and profitability of the
business rests on the incumbent. The candidate is responsible for the day
to day management of the business operations in India, as well as
International expansion.
Reporting will be to the Board and will facilitate the delivery of the
overall objectives and targets set by the Board.
An Ideal candidate
would be a dynamic leader with exceptional leadership, communication and
relationship management and building skill. Track record of influencing
positive changes and successes.
The incumbent should have minimum 5 years experience as a profit centre
head and 7-8 years experience in sales / marketing background, experience
in handling corporate sales /trade /retail, preferable in rural markets
.Some exposure to international markets would be an advantage. Desire to

KRA
Strategy formulation & implementation
·
Contribute to the development and refinement of the company’s vision and
strategy.
·
Provide leadership to the business and to implement the vision, mission,
and strategic plans in order to maximize shareholder return.
·
Liaise with other executive heads on the implementation of the company’s
strategic and operational plans.
·
Responsible for the overall performance of the business, the top and
bottom line of the company.
·
Develop, review, and report on the business development division’s
strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and
executed by the heads of department.
·
Spearhead and oversee the enhancement of the company’s products and
services.
·
Be responsible for developing and nurturing business network and
relationships with key stakeholders like the board and investors.
·
Lead an executive team consisting of specialists in Sales, Exports,
Production and Finance. Ensure effective achievement through the
leadership of the organization, by setting clear objectives.
Operations and People Management
·
Build and lead an effective and cohesive management team.
·
Manage business through a motivated top team consisting of finance,
operations, sales, marketing, supply chain etc. and create an effective
work.
·
Ensure effective resource allocation are in place or available to support
the business.
·
Strategic Operations Management, Finance, Budgeting, Business Development
and Marketing.
·
Governance and Compliance as per company policy.
·
Maintain & develop organizational culture, values and reputation in its
markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and
regulatory/official bodies.
Education/Experience
We require an MBA/ Engineer, with at least 10 years plus experience in
growing profitable sales and building a strong brand. With minimum 5
years experience as a profit centre head and 7-8 years experience in
sales / marketing background, experience in handling corporate sales
/trade /retail, preferably in rural markets. International exposure would
be an advantage.
Candidates with experience in sales & marketing of products like
tractors, farm equipment, irrigation products, seeds, pesticides or other
rural consumer products would have an advantage.
Compensation:
Would not be a constraint for the right profile.
