This
position will be temporarily located in the Ferney Voltaire PATH office until
the Strategic Vaccine Supply (SVS) Team relocates to Geneva in late 2011. Must
have legal authority to work in France or Switzerland.

The
primary goal of PATH’s Vaccine Development Global Program is to accelerate the
development of new and lifesaving vaccines through a range of initiatives that
are designed in collaboration with public- and private-sector partners.
Vaccine Access & Delivery (VAD) is currently recruiting for a Forecasting
Analyst, Strategic Vaccine Supply (SVS), for the Accelerated Vaccine
Introduction (AVI) Initiative. The primary goal of this effort is to support the
accelerated introduction of vaccines against rotavirus and pneumococcal disease
into the routine immunization practices of GAVI-eligible countries. This project
will work in close partnership with a variety of stakeholders, including GAVI,
WHO, UNICEF, universities, vaccine manufacturers, other NGOs, as well as
directly with countries themselves, to develop and implement the necessary
strategies, policies, protocols, and infrastructure to accelerate introduction
and uptake of these lifesaving vaccines.
This
post will support the generation of strategic demand and supply forecasts for
rotavirus, pneumococcal, and other GAVI portfolio vaccines in developing
countries, using a broad-range of inputs including market research, dynamic
modeling, and product landscape scanning. The Forecasting Analyst will be a
member of a highly focused team with a common goal to support and trigger
evidence-based decisions that increase effectiveness and efficiency of
introduction activities of the AVI project by providing high-quality,
consistent, timely and transparent strategic demand forecasts for Pneumococcal
and Rotavirus vaccines, ensuring seamless interface with UNICEF procurement
plans and providing single point of contact for all strategic forecasting
information. As a member of the team he/she will be expected to meet timelines
and address any challenges arising during fulfilling the scope of work. Job responsibilites
include:

Develop and
maintain complex forecast models for vaccines market and products,
incorporating input from different functions that correctly portray future
market dynamics and highlight the areas of variability.

Perform analyses
on previous strategic demand forecast versions to identify opportunities to
improve overall forecast accuracy.

Analyze key
forecast drivers and make recommendations for methodological refinements of
the forecast model.

Assist SVS with
expansion of strategic demand forecasts to include other markets beyond the
GAVI-eligible countries.

Perform vaccine
market research inorder to create and maintain supply landscape analyses.

Support
Forecasting Managers in preparation of presentations relevant to the SVS area
of work.
Required Skills
-
Demonstrated
experience operating sophisticated modeling and performing quantitative
analyses

Experience in
demand forecasting desirable, but not required.

Strong command of
MS Office suite, ability to organize and analyze data in Excel.

Excellent written
and oral communication skills in English.

Ability to work independently
and as an active, engaged
team member.
Required Experience
Master's Degree in related field of study plus 1 year related experience; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and/or knowledge in global health and development, preferably with a
special interest in vaccine preventable diseases.
