ActionAid International wishes to recruit a dynamic and energetic person as a Country Representative in our Lesotho country programme. This leadership role will be required to lead, manage and expand a rights-based approach in our community and national programming, policy, advocacy and campaign work in the country.
Reporting to the International Director, East and Southern Africa, the position will strengthen local programme management systems, oversee the development and implementation of a Country Strategy and strengthen long-term fundraising and partnership with development agencies.
The person will have empowering leadership practices and will be responsible for further strengthening and deepening our partnerships, programmes and accountability systems in Lesotho. S/he will be actively committed to gender equity, will be self motivated, value driven and possess sound development perspectives.
The person will possess requisite skills, knowledge and abilities to provide leadership in rights based programming and policy advocacy work, using Participatory approaches; strategic planning, programme management, annual planning and budget preparation, and in monitoring and evaluation. The persons should be able to lead in fundraising and oversee management of donor relations; ability to relate and promote regional and international linkages, and lead organizational development processes. The person should be able to lead and manage change, and support Action Aid programmes and internal functioning in line with the established mission, vision, values, policies, principles and operating practices of ActionAid International.
A university degree in Social or Behavioural Sciences or equivalent from a recognized university is required. Post graduate qualifications in development studies or relevant work experience will be an added advantage. A minimum 5 years development experience leading and managing programmes in Africa at the local, national and international level in a cultural diverse organization preferably in an NGO setting is required.
