The WorldFish Center, headquartered on the island of Penang, Malaysia, is a world-class scientific research organization. Our mission is to reduce poverty and hunger by improving fisheries and aquaculture. The Center is a nonprofit organization and a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

Key Responsibilities
• Providing financial expertise to assist in meeting the strategic objectives of the Center through timely and accurate analysis of the Center's financial status, setting Center financial policies, and provide appropriate advice on actions to be taken by members of the Senior Management Team;
• Ensuring the Financial Management of the Center adheres to the appropriate guidelines and all data within SAP system accurately reflects the financial status of the Center;
• Developing a reliable and functional budgeting process in line with its strategic objectives, monitor and manage the budget through the year in ensuring the management budgetary objectives are met;
• Ensuring all financial governance for the Center are fully met by leading the activities (internally) with the Internal Auditors Unit, the External Auditors and Audit Committee, that all issues raised by these parties are given due attention;
• Ensuring that the financial assets belonging to the Center are managed according to the guidelines approved by the Board, and the performance of these investments are reported timely to management; and
• Ensuring the Center is updated on CGIAR knowledge and practices related to Finance.

Skills and Abilities
• Very knowledgeable in financial accounting, planning and budgeting;
• High level of managerial, organizational and planning skills;
• High level of analytical skills related to financial management and control;
• Possess high level interpersonal and communication skills;
• Proficient in English language both in writing and orally; and
• Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in financial matters is a plus.

Qualifications and Experiences
• Masters/Bachelors Degree in Accounting with a membership in an internationally recognized accounting institute;
• Minimum 8 years relevant experience with at least 5 years demonstrated management experience in Financial control and management functions; and
• Experience in using SAP would be an added advantage.
