WCS is seeking applicants for the position of Community Conservation and Livelihoods Coordinator for the Boma Jonglei Landscape program.

Key Responsibilities
This is a full-time position responsible for the design and implementation of socio-economic research, livelihood activities, and monitoring systems; design of strategies and integration of communities in conservation initiatives; and implementing other community and socio-economic related aspects of the program. Duties include training and capacity building and oversight of a team of WCS socio-economic personnel; supervising social research and data analysis, conservation education and livelihoods activities; working with local communities in the landscape to development conservation partnerships; and writing reports according for WCS and donors. The position will be based at Boma and Badingilo Parks with frequent travel throughout the landscape. The Community Conservation and Livelihoods Coordinator reports to the WCS Southern Sudan Program Director.

Qualifications
Qualifications for this position are a PhD or Master's degree in community-related conservation, natural resource management, or related field, technical knowledge of socio-economic research methodologies, and at least 3 years of experience working on community conservation and natural resource management issues in Africa. Experience and ability to work with national and local organizations required. Proven ability to work well in a team in multi-cultural situations and under difficult field conditions is essential. Fluency in written and spoken English required and familiarity with languages and culture of Southern Sudan will be an advantage.
