An exciting opportunity to join the No.1 Gorilla Safari Company!

Volcanoes Safaris are looking for dynamic, motivated individuals to join our main sales team based in Kampala, Uganda.

Volcanoes Safaris is a unique great ape eco-tourism business specialising in mountain gorilla safaris to Africa, in particular to Uganda and Rwanda. We employ over 100 people.We have sales offices in Kampala, Kigali London and Atlanta. VS also owns 3 eco-lodges close to the gorilla parks in Uganda and Rwanda and will open a 4th lodge at Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.

The main objectives of the role are
• To maximise the level of sales and reservations at VS through maximising the conversion of enquiries into actual sales
• To manage VS’ relationship with certain key introducers of business to drive sales from those accounts.
• To work closely with the senior members of the VS team to ensure that the brand values and ethos of VS are appropriately represented.
• To work closely with the marketing team to ensure that the approach to sales and reservations is consistent with the marketing approach of VS

The role will include
• Working as a proactive member of a small sales team, handling enquiries from both direct clients and from Tour Operator / Travel Agents in the UK, US and Europe which come in via email and telephone.
• Planning itineraries, issuing quotes and selling specialist high-end safaris.
• Liaising with other members of the sales / operations teams to ensure very speedy turn around of quotes and availability of all necessary information on safaris, following up on all quotes issued.
• Liaising with suppliers and other hotels and lodges in order to make reservations.

The ideal candidate will
• Have strong selling skills, be personable, capable of building strong relationships and being credible in representing VS’s values
• Be a team player, working well with colleagues and being capable of fostering effective working relationships that ensure high levels of performance and clear, accurate and timely communication
• Have strong personal organisational and IT capabilities (notably in Excel), including careful documentation skills and attention to detail, but without losing sight of the ‘big-picture’
• Ideally some knowledge of Africa and a strong work ethic
• Mature, trustworthy, reliable and a good time keeper with good attention to detail

Salary negotiable depending on experience.
