Description of the unit /
Division: |
The International Division is
responsible for the management and implementation of Trócaire’s emergency
and long-term development work in five regions and 27 countries around the
world, with an annual budget in excess of €35m.
The
Institutional Funding Unit (IFU) is part of Trócaire’s International
Division and is responsible for overseeing and supporting funding
applications and reporting to institutional donors such as Irish and UK
Governments, the European Commission and others. The Unit consists of the
following staff:

In addition to the Ireland-based staff, there are 5
Regional Institutional Funding Officers (RIFOs) based overseas, with a
particular remit for seeking and managing funds from institutional donors in
Trócaire’s field offices.

Background to the Role: |
Trócaire receives funding from institutional donors, such
as Irish Aid, the European Commission and DfID for work in the thematic
areas of: Gender Equality, HIV/AIDS, Governance and Human Rights,
Sustainable Livelihoods and Emergency Preparedness and Response. Trócaire
works to achieve the highest level of quality in all our programmes and is
committed to demonstrating the impact of our work through accountability to
beneficiaries, partners and donors. The focus of this post will be in
increasing institutional funding income for Trócaire, overseeing effective
management of funds and ensuring accountability to donors and other
stakeholders.

Scope of the Role: |
The
Institutional Funding Manager has responsibility for management of the
Institutional Funding team with a focus on the organisation’s strategic
objectives as laid out in Trócaire’s Phase II Strategic Plan for 2011-2014.

Key Duties & Responsibilities |
IFU Strategy
·
Develop and manage the implementation of
the IFU Strategy, in line with the deliverables in Trócaire’s Strategic
Framework.
·
Manage the development and implementation
of Policies and Procedure to strengthen our work in raising, managing and
reporting on donor funds.
·
Increase Trócaire’s Strategic Engagement
with Institutional donors.
IFU Team Management
·
Continue to build the overall IFU team
including a motivated positive working environment, implementing Performance
Management procedures and recruitment for vacant roles.
·
Work closely with
the Regional Funding Officers and ensure
consistency in terms of application of Trócaire’s IFU-related policies
globally.
Representational
·
Interface as appropriate with Trócaire’s
Ireland division, ensuring IFU and International contribution to the
fundraising and communications agenda of the organisation as a whole.
·
Representing Trócaire, as required on
bodies of which it is a member, including at Donor meetings.
MIS
·
Train, or organise training, and offer
support to other IFU staff members in Trócaire’s MIS.
·
Continue investigation to bring about
improvements and coherence in the use of MIS within the IFU.

management and organisational skills, including personnel management and
financial management
- A solid understanding of overseas
development work, including knowledge of key issues and trends in the
development sector and in relation to institutional funding in particular

A solid understanding of development
approaches relevant to a partnership-based NGO (partnership, partner
capacity-building, working through a programmatic approach etc.)
- Excellent written and oral
communication skills in English.

As this post is
based in Ireland, non EU / EEA nationals will require current and valid
permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland as work
permits are only issued in exceptional circumstances and for very limited
periods. Evidence of this permission should accompany your application.
