The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is involved in the planning and implementation of reconstruction and rehabilitation programmes in several disaster affected areas abroad. For our programme in Haiti we are looking for a delegate, who will provide professional support, manage and supervise the implementation of projects, foster capacity-building and contribute to strengthening the health-system trough the assignment as

Health Delegate

to be based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Following emergency relief work in close cooperation with the Haitian Red Crescent Society (HRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), SRC provides health care assistance to the earthquake affected population. For the management, coordination and supervision of our health related projects, your work will build on these preliminary assessments.

Tasks:
• Identify and formulate health-related project proposals
• Manage and administer health projects
• Assist in rehabilitation of health care facilities
• Advise on health issues in mobile clinics/ primary health care centres or basic health care posts
• Participate in training of local personnel
• Support the SRC Country Representative in Port-au-Prince in any other health coordination tasks
• To select and appoint national staff for health related activities
Requirements:
• Medical professional (Nurse, MD) preferably with postgraduate education in Public Health or equivalent and a minimum of five years professional experience
• Experience working in post disaster/emergency health programming and sound knowledge in developing health projects in a complex post-disaster context
• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of the RCRC Movement, previous Red Cross experience is an asset
• Demonstrated experience in writing and developing project proposals
• Proven abilities in identifying and developing key relationships with stakeholders and actors
• Excellent communication skills in English, very good communication skills in French
• Demonstrated experience in capacity building with focus on primary health care
• Analytical skills and ability to adapt to a changing health policy, strategy and structure
• High capacity of coordination and organisation
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills, diplomacy
Duration of contract: 12 months with the option of extension, starting as soon as possible or according to agreement.

Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses provided.
