The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is involved in the planning and implementation of relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation programmes in several disaster affected areas abroad. For our programme in Pakistan we are looking for a

Logistics Delegate
based in Islamabad, Pakistan, with frequent in-country travel.

Following emergency relief work in close cooperation with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), SRC has carried out rapid assessments and prepared a framework for projects.

Tasks:
• Implement and maintain SRC standard practices in logistics procedures (procurement of goods and services, warehousing, transportation management, logistics budgeting)
• Provide timely advice and technical support on logistics issues to the SRC country representative and other delegates of the SRC Delegation in Pakistan
• Work closely with the SRC country representative and other delegates in order to get accurate information and deliver items in due time to distribution and construction sites
• Monitor, supervise and evaluate the logistics issues of SRC funded emergency relief and early recovery operations of PRCS and other SRC partners
• Coordinate with PRCS, IFRC and ICRC regarding emergency relief and early recovery operations
• Liaise with International, Government and Non-Government Agencies and collaborate with them as appropriate
• Support, train and develop PRCS staff and volunteers on-the-job

Requirements:
• Education and sound experience in logistics
• Experience in standardized and systemized logistics-software
• Working experience in foreign countries
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts
• Skills in teamwork and in working under difficult conditions
• Familiarity with Red Cross Movement is an advantage
• Fluency in English (working language)

Duration of contract: 3 months with the option of extension, starting as soon as possible or according to agreement.

Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses provided.
