Campaigns & Communications Adviser (Aid and Development Finance) / Popular Campaigning Coordinator (Essential Services) 

Contract: 4 Year Fixed Term
Location: Oxford, UK
Salary: c. £32,000 p.a.
 

Oxfam is an International confederation of 15 independent, non-governmental organizations working together in 98 countries to achieve our vision of ‘a just world without poverty’. Our Secretariat is based in Oxford, with advocacy and campaigns offices in Washington DC, New York, Brussels, Geneva, Brasilia and a liaison office with the Africa Union in Addis Ababa 

Oxfam International is looking for a Campaigns & Communications Adviser focusing on more and better aid and development finance. The post is a fixed-term four-year contract and will be based in Oxford. For approximately four days per week, this role will coordinate with colleagues globally, and external allies, to drive popular communication on these issues. This will involve working with Oxfam policy and media advisers, and popular campaigning teams across the confederation. The post-holder will also co-ordinate and develop a team of high profile global advocates to support these efforts. 

A second part of this role (approximately one day per week) will be to chair and coordinate the Oxfam International Essential Services Popular Campaigning Team - working with the Head of the Essential Services Campaign and popular campaigners across Oxfam affiliates. This work will incorporate all issues of Oxfam’s Essential Services Campaign – which ranges from work on health and education – to aid, tax and innovative finance such as the ‘Robin Hood Tax’. 

The successful applicant will have:  

·         Excellent written and communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate both internally and externally.

·         Strong track record of campaigning and communication work in a global context

·         Experience of project management, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation and inter-organization learning.

·         Ability to think strategically and achieve results

·         Ability to work autonomously in a leadership role, with minimal day-to-day management.

·         Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject / skill set, experience of and study of international development and related issues an advantage.

·         Strong interpersonal skills including good team work, and experience of working in multicultural and virtual teams

·         Commitment to the aims of Oxfam to end poverty and suffering 

Fluency in English required and competence in French and/or Spanish is desirable.  

The post holder must have the legal right to be employed in the UK
