Management Sciences for Health (MSH) (www.msh.org) saves lives and improves health, especially among the worlds poorest and most vulnerable people, by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.
MSH seeks a Director for Health Systems Management for potential full-time employment in Iraq. This upcoming project that will provide support to the Iraqi Ministry of Health (MoH) to achieve its strategic goal for better quality primary health care services by strengthening the primary health care delivery system in Iraq. This is a nondependent post and the position is subject to project award.
Director for Health Systems Management (DHSM):
The DHMS will serve as the team leader managing both of the project activities for the Management Systems and Processes for Primary Health Care and for the Community Partnerships for Primary Health Care. Under the Iraq Primary Health Care project, the DHSM will create an environment which supports delivery of quality services in each primary care center through improved and effective management and leadership skills and systems. Improved management and leadership skills will result in a more positive work environment for the clinic team and a more positive patient care experience for clients. Under the Iraq Primary Health Care project, the DHSM will focus specifically on strengthening management systems in pharmaceuticals, human resources, finances, facility maintenance, and medical equipment, as well as, the working relationship between primary health care clinics and the communities they serve by promoting a more customer-oriented approach and more active community participation. For this important role, we seek the following qualifications:
At least 10 years of relevant management, supervisory, and technical experience working in complex development programs related to primary health care performance improvement that are of similar scope and scale to the Primary Health Care Project in Iraq
Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more relevant areas for institutional capacity-building (i.e. health administration/management, management and leadership training, modern quality improvement methods as applied to health management practices, health facility management, medical records management, human resource management and development, etc.)
Minimum of a Masters Degree in a relevant field, such as public health, health administration, nursing, medicine, etc. Advanced degree preferred.
Proven capacity in building and effectively supervising a diverse team of employees
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, leadership, creative problem-solving and ethical management
Prior experience working with international donors and knowledge of Federal Government policies and procedures preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
English language fluency (minimum 4/4) is required
Knowledge of Arabic and experience in the Arab world is desirable but not required
