Job Summary
JBF is selecting a team of Development Professionals having
administrative and project management skills in direct implementation of
grass root projects with specialization in Water, Environment or NRM. It
is a very exciting job opportunity with tremendous potential for growth
and learning.
Job Description
1.
Will be head of the Project Management Group consisting specialists in
social action and engineering working with 50 field workers and 1500
volunteers in more than 200 villages.
2.
Manage, Plan, budget, implement and monitor all the project activities to
achieve clearly defined and measurable indicators.
3.
Train and build a team of highly motivated professionals and volunteers
to undertake the project activities.
4.
To create civil society institutions to promote volunteerism and
facilitate participation of beneficiaries in the program activities.
5.
Coordinate with government organizations, civil society institutions,
other non-government organizations, media and other institutions.
6.
Prepare periodical progress reports to reflect achievement of project
targets, document leanings and record project activities.
Desired Candidate Profile
1.
JBF is an ISO 9001-2000
certified organization and has very strong management systems that are
the backbone of its operations. Candidate should be familiar with working
in a systems based environment and be able to take them forward by
constantly improving and strengthening the project management processes.
2.
Graduate / Post-Graduate
degree in Development Studies, Management, or Social Sciences with
excellent communication skills in Hindi and English with at least 10 to
15 years experience of which 8 years heading a project team implementing
grass-root level development projects in rural areas, preferably in water
management or NRM.
3.
The position requires a
strong passion for action in WATER or NRM related issues, commitment to
participatory development, and an interest in grass root project
implementation. He will be required to spend at least 15 days each month
supervising his field team in implementing and monitoring projects.
4.
Should have strong report
writing skills with knowledge of LFA, RBM techniques and PRA tools.
5.
Candidates should have a
strong background in development studies, and keenly interested in
developing domain expertise in exciting and new areas of theorisation and
action.
Candidates with less than required experience will not be considered for
this position.
Remuneration
Consolidated monthly remuneration will be in a scale of Rs. 30,000/- to
Rs. 50,000/- based on performance with enormous opportunities for
individual career growth.

by H.H. Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur and Shri Rajendra Singh (Magsaysay
awardee 2001), and is working in 200 villages spread over 2500kms of the
Marwar region in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan.
Jal Bhagirathi Foundation works towards
strengthening the capacity of desert communities to manage their scarce
water and natural resources through traditional best practices. With

facilitator for the construction and restoration of traditional water
harvesting structures in the Marwar region.
Common property resources like pasturelands;
sacred groves, gravely lands and cultivable wastelands play an important
role in preserving the local bio-diversity. JBF is attempting to empower
village level institutions to adopt a pragmatic approach towards
development and restoration of common property resources, benefits of
which will accrue to the entire village community.
The strategy focuses on capacity building and
training of rural community for development and proper management of
ecological resources. The Foundation follows a participatory approach and
emphasizes on strengthening village level institutions to effectively
manage natural resources. Women empowerment is promoted through their
participation in project planning, execution and management. Sustenance
and effective governance of ecological resources is therefore ensured
through participation of stakeholders.
All programs, activities and strategies of the
Foundation aim towards one goal: involving, empowering and making the
village community self-reliant.
The Foundation has also initiated an action
oriented advocacy campaign to further the cause of a clear water sector
policy and related reforms. It believes that the voice of the people
should be heard before policies are framed for their benefit; from
objects of policies, people should become subjects of these policies. For
