IMaCS is a consulting firm with more than 15 years of experience in executing consulting assignments across diverse sectors in India and overseas. IMaCS has been engaged by an UN Agency to provide consultancy support to the Communication for development (C4D) programme. In this regard, IMaCS invites application from qualified candidates for the position of Knowledge Management Consultant. The primary objective of the consultancy is to improve programme focus, effectiveness and policy influencing through development of an evidence base for C4D strategies, knowledge management products and dissemination events for best practices related to C4D. The role and responsibilities of the consultant are as follows
• Identify gaps and needs in Knowledge Management for C4D
• Under the guidance of the focal point for Knowledge Management in the C4D section, elaborate the Knowledge Management strategy for C4D
• Refine the typology of different series of Knowledge Management products for UN Agency, such as research briefs, process documentation, training manuals etc. and work with a design agency to develop design identities for them
• Provide technical support to the Publication Review Committee chaired by C4D
• Identify, review and expand a roster of writers, photographers and other Knowledge Management resources with indexed CVs
• Write C4D contributions of best practices for the UN Agency and other newsletters and websites
• Edit reports/documents to make them readable and presentable
• Track websites of the UN Agency as well as other relevant websites for relevant materials and disseminate appropriately
• Identify and prepare a report on suitable national and international journals and websites for publication of papers on different subjects and events for presentation
• Under the guidance of the focal point for Knowledge Management in the C4D section, provide technical support to the development of quality knowledge management products, written in a concise, evidence based, analytical manner and attractively packaged, which can be disseminated among policy makers, practitioners, partners, stakeholders and donors. This will include documents, films and web based products. The consultant will develop ToRs, concept notes and provide technical support to the development of the products
• Conceptualise and organise experience sharing events
• Under the guidance of the focal point for Knowledge Management in the C4D section, review, organize and develop an archiving system for documentation of C4D reports and documents
• Provide technical support to the creation of an e-repository for documents produced by C4D on the e-warehouse of communication materials produced by C4D and provide inputs for its improvement
Qualifications and experience:
• An advanced degree in communication/social sciences
• Experience in behavior and social change communication in the development sector
• Experience in knowledge management in a large development organization, preferably an international agency
• Demonstrated high level of writing skills
• Demonstrated understanding of research and documentation
