The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. 

The ICRC Regional Delegation is looking for two enthusiastic and motivated doctors for the position of Medical Officer of a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) in Chhattisgarh State.

1.         Position Job Title:        Medical Officer- Mobile Health Units (MHU)/ Chhattisgarh

Starting date:                Immediately

No. of positions:           2 

First Place of Activity:à villages in the Dornapal region in the northern part of Konta block, Dantewara district.

  • Residential Base: Sukma town, District Dantewara, Chhattisgarh  

Second Place of Activity:à villages in and around Kutru region, in Bhairangarh block, Bijapur district.

  • Residential Base: Bijapur, District Bijapur, Chhattisgarh 

 

2.             Scope of Job

·         To work as a Doctor of the Mobile Health Unit (MHU) team.

·         To be aware of the ICRC mandate, objectives and activities

·         To respect and observe the ICRC staff regulations, including the security rules.

·         To organize MHU field trips, including their planning, and the assignment of specific tasks for the different team members.

·         To ensure some curative care                               

·         To identify the issues requiring IEC/BCC activities in the community and get it organised under his/her supervision

·         To supervise health promotion / disease prevention services

·         To prepare MHU health data and monthly statistical reports according to ICRC model

·         To assist the MHU nurse for the management of the medical supplies system, including quarterly medical orders and proper medical items storage.

·         To advice & organise medical evacuation for patients with life threatening conditions. 

·         To support the Health Coordinator in the identification of problems and in proposing corrective measures

·         To assist the Health Coordinator in administrative issues

·         To be ready to perform duties and task not covered in this job description, including the support to other ICRC departments.

 

3.             Professional requirements

·         Diploma Degree: MBBS

·         Working knowledge of English (oral and written). 

Experience 

·         Minimum 2- 3 years in medical care service

·         Desirable: Experience of working in Tribal / rural areas and / or Mobile Health Unit.

·         Reliability and sense of responsibility

·         Organization & Team leading & Managerial skills

·         Basic Computer skills

·         Flexibility + availability for working in difficult conditions (Frequent field trips in areas affected by the conflict)

·         Curiosity and open mind for the ICRC multidisciplinary approach and willingness to learn
