INSTITUTIONAL GIVING MANAGER

HealthRight International seeks a dynamic, experienced Institutional Giving professional to oversee all aspects of our corporate, foundation, and government grant writing and fundraising activities. The Institutional Giving Manager will successfully prepare and administer grant proposals and reports, both pre and post award, as well as prospect for new sources of institutional funding. The Institutional Giving Manager works closely with program and finance staff and the Executive Director, and reports directly to the Vice President, Development.

HealthRight International has a small NY HQ supporting health and human rights programs and advocacy through our country offices in Nepal, Kenya, Russia, Viet Nam, Ukraine, and here in the United States. HealthRight’s programs build long-term solutions addressing urgent health issues in concert with local partners around the globe. The Institutional Giving Manager must be flexible and enthusiastic about working with tight deadlines in a friendly, hard-working and demanding environment with the chance to contribute substantially to HealthRight’s mission to build lasting access to health for marginalized communities. S/he must be willing and able to cheerfully and competently juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify potential sources of grant support (foundation, public, foreign government, corporate); prepare letters of inquiry and make initial inquiries as appropriate. Actively prospect for new sources of support.
• In collaboration with HQ and field program staff and organization leadership, draft and edit proposals for submission to funders.
• Oversee all aspects of the application process, preparation through to submission of applications for funding.
• Develop, implement and oversee systems related to grants and tracking foundation information, including applications, files, background information, correspondence, and reports. Input related data into the Raiser’s Edge database.
• Support program and finance staff in preparation and editing of reports on grant activity as required by funders.
• Maintain donor relationships, including communication with institutional funders, attending meetings, and preparing written or other responses to donor requests for information.
• Contribute to organization’s overall fundraising and promotional efforts.
• Work with the Vice President, Development and Finance Department to develop grant projections for the annual budget process.

REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of three years progressive experience in grant management and fundraising.
• Masters degree preferred, in public administration, public health, fundraising/development or related field; international experience a plus
• Substantial experience in preparation of small and sizable ($500k +) grant applications and reports with a demonstrated record of success.
• Knowledge of foundations and government funding mechanisms required. Knowledge of funding trends and sources related to international health and human rights, international public health programming, and private foundations and corporations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Excellent project management, written and oral communication skills. Superb writing skills are essential.
• Outstanding organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

High level of proficiency in: Excel, Word, and general PC-based applications required. Proficiency with Raisers Edge database systems and Adobe Acrobat, preferred.
