Fairfood International is a non-profit campaign and lobby organisation, which encourages the food and beverage industry to increase the level of sustainability of its products. In this way, Fairfood contributes to the fight against hunger and poverty across the globe. Fairfood is in contact with more than 1300 companies in over 60 countries worldwide to encourage them to increase the level of sustainability of their products.

The Lobby Department of Fairfood is currently recruiting for the position of

Lobbyist Sustainability Food Companies
Eastern North America

Department
The Lobby department's main responsibility is to stimulate companies to increase the sustainability of their brand products and production processes. Several forms of leverage can be used to help achieve this, behind and / or in front of the scenes. The department is active in over 65 countries worldwide and lobbies towards approx. 1.400 international head offices of food and beverage companies. The department consist out of a 10 project leaders and is directed by the Manager Lobby.

Function
As Lobbyist Sustainability Food Companies (internally called Project Leader Brand Owners) you are responsible for stimulating food and beverage brand owners to increase the levels of sustainability and transparency associated with their products. You will primarily be the brand owners account manager for the region ‘Eastern North America’. You will be based in the USA, preferably New York, and the position involves frequent travelling.

As a Lobbyist you will work closely with other (non-governmental) organisations in order to create the most effective brand owner approach possible. You search for potential partners and you are responsible for making these successful partnerships.

You will also be responsible for developing new lobbying strategies in cooperation with the manager and project leaders for brand owners in other regions.

Your competences
You have a Bachelor of Arts or Master of Science degree and some years of work experience in the sustainability field or food and beverage industry and are looking for a job within a young team and a dynamic organisation. You are a strong, diplomatic communicator. Being an efficient networker, you will know how to find your way through the wide range of existing Fairfood contacts. You take the initiative and are result oriented, able to set priorities and organise. You also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Other languages are a plus. Obviously, you have a close affinity with Fairfood’s goals and are able to ‘sell’ them to the food and beverage brand owners.

What we offer?
We offer a versatile position within a young international organisation. You will have the freedom and opportunities to continue developing yourself and achieve tangible results. It is still negotiable whether you will work on a payroll or freelance basis. Due to our desire to spend our funds mainly on our core business, the salaries within Fairfood are not excessive. You could possibly start with a training period at our office in Amsterdam.
