Chief Executive
Salary: £26,500 | Location: Cambridge, UK

We are an international development organisation that aims to facilitate human development through engineering. Our programmes build awareness of technology’s role in tackling poverty; provide learning opportunities to develop this understanding; and, with support from the EWB-UK community, routes to work on projects around the world.

EWB-UK is seeking a motivated and motivating individual to lead this growing organisation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and grow the organisation, engaging with a variety of stakeholders from corporate donors and high-profile academics to our student and professional members.

You will need to demonstrate exceptional leadership, budget management and influencing capabilities. You will have experience of managing staff, shaping strategic direction, and establishing and maintaining administrative processes. It is desirable that you have experience of working with senior management. Excellent communication skills are essential.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential
• A highly motivated and motivating leader
• Outstanding co-ordination and line management of staff
• Proof of strategic thinking
• Ability to see projects through to completion
• Sound financial understanding with respect to planning and managing budgets
• Exceptional communication skills including public speaking
• Ability to establish and maintain effective administrative processes/systems
• Ability to influence positively across culturally diverse stakeholders
• Interest and engagement that meets the vision, aims and approach of EWB-UK

Desirable
• Knowledge of international development issues and/or experience in the UK not-for-profit sector
• Experience of leading teams of volunteers
• Evidence of working with a board or senior management
• Successful track record of corporate fundraising
• A network of contacts within either the international development or engineering sectors
