Project Manager
Ecosystems for Life: A Bangladesh-India Initiative

The Ecosystems for Life: A Bangladesh-India Initiative Project is a four and a half year project spread over India and Bangladesh that aims to improve, integrated management of Trans-boundary water regimes with a view to enhance food and livelihood security in the South Asia Region. The programme will be managed by IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, Asia Regional Office and is being funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN).

IUCN is now seeking to recruit a Project Manager, for the India Component of Ecosystems for Life: A Bangladesh-India Initiative Project, who will be based in New Dehli, India. The Project Manager will report to the Project Director (PD), of the Trans-boundary Water Dialogue Project on all programme and administrative matters and will work in close collaboration with other concerned IUCN staff. The Project Manager will assist the Project Director in implementing the following responsibilities in India:

Project Management, Implementation and Administration
• Undertake day-to-day management of the project and its operations ensuring timely deliveries of outputs and adherence to the budget;
• Fulfils project management requirements including timely submission of work plans, budgets, internal agreements, contracts, and progress reports;
• Manages the project team in delivery and implementation of the project.

Project Planning, Monitoring and Reporting
• Facilitate regular reviews and monitoring and evaluation tasks to ensure timely implementation of tasks and for their quality assurance;
• Plan meetings and seminars in the region to share experiences and promote the project;
• Assist in finalizing communication guidelines to be followed during the implementation of the project;
• Support preparation of communication material for dissemination of the project activities and results;

Technical and Research Coordination
• Develop and maintain regular liaison with the various research institutions, consultants etc.;
• Play a key role in the various developing, coordinating and participating in the various
Dialogue processes and meetings;
• Contribute to the production of relevant technical reports and outputs as stipulated in the yearly work plans;

The candidate should have;
• At least a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Water Resources Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Management, Development Studies, International Relations, Project Management or MBA;
• At least 10 years of progressive work experience out of which 3 years in a senior managerial or technical role; experience in project implementation and execution is essential;
• Experience of supervising a team and a strong work ethic are a must. Preferably, experience and ability to work in a multicultural and multi-perspective environment;
• Research and technical experience will be an advantage;
• Have some published research and technical papers as first author;
• Experience of Trans-boundary water or development /environment issues and a broad awareness of the Indo-Bangladesh politics and relations will be an added advantage;
• Understanding of political and bureaucratic complexities in the Region;
• Strong communications skills in English and local languages;
• Capacity to interact effectively with a wide range of people at different levels including donors, the private sector, NGOs, government officials;
• Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Duty station: The position will be based at IUCN India Country Office in Delhi, India.

This position is open for Indian nationals only and is for a period of two year with the possibility of extension. This position is classified as P2 in our classification system and the minimum basic monthly salary for this level is INR 129,299.
