The Micronutrient Initiative (MI) is an international not-for-profit
organization that works to ensure the poor – especially women and children
– in developing countries get the vitamins and minerals they need to
survive and lead productive lives. Passionate about developing and
implementing solutions for hidden hunger, we work in partnership with
governments, the private sector and civil society organizations to address
this serious problem that affects one third of the world’s population.
Governed by an international Board of Directors, MI works in Asia, Africa,
Latin America and the Middle East and reaches people in over 70 countries.
With headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, MI maintains regional offices in New
Delhi, India and Johannesburg, South Africa that manage our country offices
in Asia and Africa.
Responsibilities:
Within the framework of the MI’s objectives and strategic and
operational plans and with support from MI technical staff, directs the
delivery and quality assurance of MI Africa’s portfolio of micronutrient
programs in the following countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and Senegal.
In partnership with national and international bodies, ensures MI’s
contribution to the effective implementation of regional and national
initiatives.
Qualifications:
Up-to-date scientific/professional profile from education and/or work
experience in nutrition/health or food security-related areas, with some of
this experience in Africa;
Post-graduate academic qualification in nutrition/health sciences, food
sciences, international development or a related field;
Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with public and
private sector organizations;
and
Experience managing human and financial resources.
Fluency in English and French
Travel required (30-40% of time)
