Could you help a nation get back on its feet?

Civilian experts needed for the UK Government’s Stabilisation Unit

Helping countries emerge from violent conflict is the work of the British Government’s Stabilisation Unit – it’s jointly owned by the Department for International Development, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Ministry of Defence.

We provide civilian experts to help protect people and institutions to promote political processes; and establish longer-term non-violent politics.

As countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq and Sudan struggle to put years of war behind them, our challenge is to find and deploy people who have the specialist skills to help. We need a whole range of experts in fields as varied as Political Reconciliation, Infrastructure and Livelihoods, who will be available to take on assignments abroad, often at short notice and lasting from a few days to a whole year.

Joining our database of Deployable Civilian Experts (DCEs) is no small commitment. You’ll be using your skills in difficult and sometimes hostile environments helping to bring about positive change – but your impact could be immeasurable and the job satisfaction immense. If you’re resilient and highly skilled in one of the areas below, find out more about the roles and make an application on the DCE page at www.stabilisationunit.gov.uk  before 14th August 2009.

(Please note that we can only accept applications via our application form, CVs will not be accepted)
