Chief of Party-India Forestry/Climate Change

Clients include international development agencies, international lending institutions, private corporations and philanthropies, and host-country governments.

DAI seeks Chief of Party candidates for an anticipated forestry and climate change adaptation program in India. The program aims to increase to help improve the sustainability of forests in order to mitigate GHG emissions through carbon sequestration by forests, and to assist individuals and communities to adapt to climate change.

*This position is for submission in an upcoming proposal and is contingent upon successful award of funding.

Responsibilities: The Chief of Party will provide overall technical leadership and supervisory management; serve as the primary liaison with USAID; ensure coordination between numerous stakeholders and participants; provide project compliance oversight and quality assurance for all activities including budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation; supervise staff and oversee the project’s monitoring and evaluation system.

Qualifications Required:
• Advanced degree in technical area related to natural science, environmental studies, forestry, ecology, agriculture, or related field required
• Minimum of 15 years progressively responsible leadership roles demonstrating managerial and operational experience managing complex activities involving coordination with multiple program partner institutions in developing countries.
• Subject matter expertise in global climate change, economics of environmental management, environmental policy analysis, environmental program administration and/or business development with a focus on forestry required.
• Experience collaborating with India’s Ministry of Environment and Forests preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with USAID funded projects
• Supervisory and management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff; senior-level supervisory experience on USAID-funded programs preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills in English. Fluency in Hindi preferred.
