ChildFund International based in Richmond, Virginia invites applications for the position of Vice President of Fundraising.

ChildFund International is a member of the global ChildFund alliance and is an organization that seeks to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children have the capacity to improve their lives. ChildFund International works in 31 countries, assisting approximately 15.2 million children and their family members, regardless of race, creed or gender. ChildFund International is a voice for children, making children's needs and voices heard, and utilizing best practices to assure the highest level of accountability. The challenges facing children today, the HIV/AIDS pandemic, escalating child poverty, ongoing regional conflicts and major natural disasters, etc. all require a globe-spanning organization that works to substantially impact the lives of children. ChildFund International uses a distinctive approach focusing on working with children throughout their journey from birth to young adulthood, as well as with families, local organizations and communities globally to create the environments children need to thrive. Additionally, ChildFund International works to promote societies whose individuals and institutions participate in valuing, protecting, and advancing the worth and the rights of children. ChildFund International’s funding comes through major donors, grants and “child sponsorship”, the humanitarian development concept whereby ‘one sponsor donates one amount to help one child’.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Vice President of Fundraising is responsible for overall strategic direction, leadership and management of all private marketing and fundraising strategies designed to broaden the domestic and international awareness and support of ChildFund and its work. S/he will forge private sector partnerships and fundraising alliances that will enable ChildFund to expand its reach and services, diversify individual and corporate giving channels and increase contributed income.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal Vice President of Fundraising will possess a minimum of fifteen years experience in increasingly responsible positions in fundraising. S/he should have a diverse fundraising background with targeted donors, i.e. small sum donors (sponsors), major donors, corporations, family foundations and a proven success in generating revenue at the $150M level. Strong analytical skills applied to revenue and maximizing ROIs are also essential. S/he should have demonstrated leadership experience in a service oriented environment requiring influencing, negotiating, analysis and policy development, as well as, demonstrated diplomacy in working with diverse cultures, audiences, sensitive situations and subject matter. Previous experience working with INGOs and management of a Major Gift Program preferred.
