Chemonics International,
a global consulting and international development firm, seeks technical
specialists for an anticipated USAID-funded project focusing on
sustainable forests and climate change mitigation. Component one of the
project will work on sustainable forest management including activities
aimed at reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation as
well as enhanced sequestration, through afforestation, conservation, and
sustainable management of forests. Component two will focus on the
regions of India which are at the greatest risk of being negatively
impacted by climate change, and with the greatest need for increased
capacity. Thematically, the activities may focus on water, agriculture,
coastal zones, natural resources, or urban planning.
We
are seeking the following long-term specialists:
Forestry Specialist
-
At
least 10 years professional experience working on forest conservation
and sustainable management of forests, REDD+ methodologies, and
afforestation projects
-
Proven
results designing methods and approaches to implement REDD+ projects
-
Expertise in improving management practices for ecosystem services and
carbon sequestration
-
Possesses an advanced degree in forestry, environment, natural
resource management, or climate change-related studies in science,
agriculture, or sustainable development
-
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
Carbon Finance Specialist
-
At
least 10 years professional experience developing guidelines and
methodologies to enhance forest carbon stocks with an emphasis on
carbon accounting, monitoring and verification
-
Expert
in GHG inventory systems and proven participation in international
carbon markets at both the national and state level
-
Relevant experience analyzing social and economic incentives to help
reduce GHG emissions in the forest and agriculture sectors

Possesses an advanced degree in forestry, natural resource management,
or climate change-related studies in science, economics, carbon
financing or sustainable development
-
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
Climate Adaptation Specialist
-
At
least 10 years professional experience working on climate change
adaptation or disaster risk reduction projects in at-risk regions
focused on water issues, agro-forestry, natural resources, coastal
zones, or urban planning

Proven
experience leveraging synergies with other USAID activities or those of
other development partners to design and implement activities related
to climate change adaptation

Posses
an advanced degree in environment, natural resource management, or
climate change-related studies in science, agriculture, urban planning
or sustainable development
-
Excellent written and oral communications skills in English
