Field Office Director: Israel and the Palestinian Territory
The Carter Center

The Carter Center is guided by a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering; it seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health.

The Carter Center is seeking a senior Field Office Director in Israel and the Palestinian Territory. The Director will work with a team to develop, initiate and implement the Centerís democracy and human rights promotion and conflict resolution activities. The position requires ongoing liaison with key actors in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and Israel. The Director will work from the Centerís offices in Jerusalem and Ramallah, with regular travel within Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

The position requires at least ten years of senior level experience managing field office activities and personnel, and extensive involvement with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Experience implementing programs related to governance, election observation, human rights or conflict mitigation is strongly preferred, as are the diplomatic skills necessary to liaise effectively with senior officials from a variety of backgrounds. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable. Arabic language capacity is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience. The candidate will be hired as a consultant for an initial one year period with potential for extension.
