The Black Sea Trade & Development Bank (BSTDB) with Headquarters in Thessaloniki/Hellenic Republic is currently seeking an experienced Systems & Network Engineer for the Information Technologies Department.

The BSTDB was established by 11 member states (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine) focusing on supporting economic development and regional cooperation. The BSTDB is providing trade and project financing, guarantees, and equity for development projects in the public and private sector of its member states.

Background/General description

Under the guidance and supervision of the Director, Information Technologies, the Systems & Network Engineer provides support, maintenance, administration, and deployment of new technologies in order to make sure that the IT infrastructure of the organization is well functioning allowing it to achieve a high degree of availability and performance.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Management Accountabilities:
Administers, supports, monitors, and maintains the Virtualization infrastructure of the BSTDB based on VMware software:
• Runs the BSTDB’s servers in a virtual environment achieving high availability and good performance of business applications;
• Implements, administers, and supports the desktop virtualization using the VMware software;
• Performs all necessary actions (backup, failover, recovery, etc) to reduce possible downtime and achieve high availability of business applications;
• Monitors the virtualization infrastructure and its resources;
• Constantly monitors the virtualization functionality.
Implements, administers, supports and maintains the BSTDB’s Storage, Servers, and backup infrastructure (in HQ and DRS):
• Runs, supports, monitors, and maintains the BSTDB’s storage subsystems based on fiber Storage Area Networks (SANs), Network Attached Storages (NAS), and iSCSI devices;
• Configures, sets up, monitors, and supports the BSTDB’s servers’ infrastructure/hardware part (blades, boxes, etc.);
• Runs, supports, monitors, and maintains the BSTDB’s backup/restore infrastructure;
• Deploys and supports the Operating Systems (Windows x86 & x64 and Linux);
• Constantly monitors storage functionality, servers condition, and backup jobs.
Administers, supports, monitors, and maintains the BSTDB’s network:
• Runs and supports the Active Directory, DNS servers, and DHCP servers.
• Deploys and administers the network equipment, consisted of routers, switches, baseband modems and the Internet connection solution based on link aggregation.
• Configures, sets up, and deploys new equipment and network devices.
• Deploys security patches and fixes to all network equipment and devices;
• Runs, supports, and maintains the anti-virus software on users PCs and Servers side;
• Constantly monitors the network infrastructure and devices.
Manages the BSTDB’s main databases and mail server:
• Administers effectively the mail server of the BSTDB based in MS Exchange Server and its related Archiving solution;
• Administers and monitors the mail server security protection and its relevant implemented solutions;
• Supports and maintains different databases such as MS SQL 2000, 2005/8 and mySQL.
Administers the BSTDB’s Disaster Recovery Site infrastructure and participates in new IT initiatives:
• Runs, deploys, and maintains the Disaster Recovery Plan and monitors the replication networks;
• Tests and benchmarks new state of the art IT solutions;
• Participates in IT Department’s new projects;
• Constantly monitors the DRS infrastructure, connectivity, and equipment.

Relationship Management Accountabilities (Internal and External):
• Participates in the promotion of the BSTDB’s activities including but not limited to participation in congresses, conferences, roundtables, working groups, workshops, etc.

Undertakes other relevant tasks that may be assigned by the Director, Information Technologies and as may be required by the policies of the BSTDB.

SELECTION CRITERIA
• University degree, preferably at the postgraduate level related to computer science or engineering.
• Minimum five, preferably eight years of working experience in a similar position.
• Experience with VMware software both in server consolidation and virtual desktop infrastructure.
• In depth experience with SAN equipment.
• In depth experience in local area network administration.
• Experience with blade servers configuration and deployment.
• Experience with backup and restore devices and software.
• Experience with databases such as MS-SQL 2000/2005 and mySQL.
• Experience in administering and managing Microsoft Exchange Server.
• Experience with Cisco routers, network switches, and any Microsoft and Checkpoint software
• VMware certification (VCP) and Microsoft Certification (MCSE) will be highly appreciated.
• HP certification on SANs, blade servers, backup HW/SW and switches is an advantage.
• A positive attitude towards change and innovation.
• Good analytical and summarizing skills.
• Strong marketing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with external contractors.
• Results-oriented decision making abilities with an aptitude for developing practical solutions.
• Ability to provide technical guidance in overseeing work of more junior staff.
• Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to successfully interact with a variety of people in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as a team member.
• Demonstrated effective time management and ability to prioritize, plan own work and maintain high productivity to meet tight deadlines.
• Commitment to knowledge sharing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience in the region of the BSTDB’s operations is an asset.
• Experience in an international financial institution is an asset.
