Finance Controller
American India Foundation (AIF)

We are looking for some one with (i) at least a Bachelor’s degree with an Accounting major, (2) Good knowledge
and practical experience in Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge (Blackbaud software programs) and (iii) at least
five years experience at a supervisory level in a Not-for-Profit organization actively involved in raising funds

Position Description
Job Title: Finance Controller
Reports to: Chief Finance Officer (part time pro bono)
Job Summary: Responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective general accounting and finance function at the foundation. - preparing and monitoring annual budgets, program administration, preparation of financial statements for finance committee and Board of Directors, Maintaining effective internal controls, accounting controls for fund raising activities including galas, appeals, on line donations, donor advisory funds and other activities related to accounting function.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Issuing quarterly package of financial statements
• Prepare and monitoring the annual budget
• Managing the organization's cash flow, and establishing internal fiscal policies, procedures and controls to ensure sound financial operations and compliance with board directives, foundation requirements, GAAP, and government regulations
• Overseeing the recording of all investment transactions
• Taxation (form 990) and regulatory filings with various States.
• Co-ordination with affiliated organization in India for programs, documents relating thereto and administering monetary transactions – approving release of funds after proper compliance verification, etc..
• Co-ordinating with outside accountants for annual audit – preparation of work papers, etc.
• Manage staff responsible for accounting and database in our New York office
• Reconciling the organization's investment portfolio
• Ensuring proper recording, accounting and reporting for donor advisory fund accounts.
• Assist the CFO in assessing and implementing IT
• Any other assignments that may be given by the CFO from time-to-time
Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting; Master’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a not-for-profit organizations a Must..
• A thorough knowledge and experience in Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge programs.
• CPA is strongly preferred.
Supervises: Accounts Manager responsible for accounting function and Data Base Manager responsible for Raiser’s Edge – a fund raising software.
