ADB seeks qualified professionals to fill this vacancy in its Department of External Relations (DER):

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Job Purpose:
Support the external relations strategy of Department of External Relations (DER) and implement strategies and activities in assigned areas. Conceptualize communication plans for institutional campaigns, events, and projects. Focus on developing and recommending strategic approaches for improving effectiveness and scaling up communications for projects and initiatives. Oversee preparation of key communications products and materials. Identify communications tools and opportunities to position ADB amongst key target audiences. Undertake capacity building on effective communications with stakeholders, particularly media.

Immediate Reporting Relationships:
The position reports to: Head, Media and Communications Unit, Department of External Relations (DER)
The following staff positions report to the Communications Specialist: National Officer and Administrative Staff

Relevant Experience and Other Requirements:
Specific criteria include

• Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level
• At least 8 years' relevant experience, including at international level
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Consistently applies creativity and independent judgment to work
• Performs work independently in own field of specialization, and equipped with knowledge and experience of multiple communication disciplines.
• Experience in event management and organization of large international fora
• Experience in managing staff from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to manage, mentor and prioritize staff and managing complex relationships
• Strong interpersonal skills and recognized as a team player
• Demonstrated public relations, management skills

Education Requirements:
A university degree in communications, journalism, social sciences, international relations or related fields; preferably at post graduate level or its equivalent. Experienced in planning and implementing communications strategies and tools for international organizations.
