Request for Expression of Interest
UNICEF Field Office for the State of Uttar Pradesh, in partnership with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, is supporting the implementation of activities in the ghungroo bell industry in Jalesar town, Etah district, Uttar Pradesh. The project’s main goals are to raise awareness at the grassroots around child rights and child protection; increase access to quality education; and develop alternative livelihoods options for ‘at – risk’ families. The project is operational in 25 wards, covering 75 mohallas, of Jalesar town. The total number of beneficiaries planned to be reached by the project is 5,500 who are living in these mohallas. The number of children to be reached through this project is 14,000 between the age group 6 – 14 years.
UNICEF Uttar Pradesh requires the services of competent organizations and agencies that have substantial experience in implementing community – based child protection activities with a special focus on the prevention of child labour. Oganizations should also have strong experience working with state and district level government counterparts and be able to provide quality inputs in the following:
Ø Field level surveys, community – based assessments and mapping, participatory monitoring and evaluation.
Ø Community mobilization with a strong emphasis on social change and empowerment of women and adolescent groups.
Ø Capacity building activities, including training of various government functionaries who interact on a day – to – day basis with community members. .
Ø Child participation and mobilization.
Ø Advocacy and mass media campaigns.
Ø Benchmarking, standard setting, quality assurance through supportive supervision.
Ø Human resources management.
UNICEF invites expressions of interest (EoI) from competent agencies that are national and international NGOs, Foundations, Trusts, Companies, Firms, academic/research bodies presently working in Uttar Pradesh and would like to support the implementation of the project in the ghungroo bell industry. The EoI must clearly spell out the organization’s core areas of competency; technical specialization and work; long standing experience of child protection issues in the State of Uttar Pradesh. The EoI should also include copies of CVs of core project team members and their relevant experience in implementing child protection and/or child labour prevention projects. The NGO Profile form will be used to screen the EoI and shortlist the agencies for possible cooperation in the implementation of the project. NGOs may attach any additional information that may support their candidature.
