Job Overview

The position promotes patient’s health care rights as well as enhances community health and policy initiatives that focus on the availability, safety and quality of care addressing the issue of safe injections. Develop strategies to highlight and change the behavior of the key stakeholders (political scenario, bureaucrats, Key opinion leaders etc) to address the issue of reuse of syringes. The position’s focus is on Changing the policy of the state towards adoption of Reuse Prevention Syringes (RUP) in the curative healthcare delivery sector would be the focus.

The position would also be responsible for developing partnerships with Development Partners, National and International NGOs to develop a consortium to address the issue of reuse of syringes – all of which would lead to a policy change to adopt the technology.


Essential Duties & responsibilities

Ø Develop complete understanding with mapping of the functioning of the state health departments, PSUs, Municipal Commission, defense (All government agencies that deliver healthcare) etc. in the focus states.
Ø Develop functioning relationships with the key decision makers, Key opinion leaders, development organizations, local and international NGOs across segments in the focus states
Ø Be the regional resource and front face to interact with the government on all matters related to issue based advocacy
Ø Lead studies, white paper generation and Round Table Discussions to help government adopt RUP
Ø Provide strategic inputs and guide the teams working in the government
Ø Develop a consortium of voices from government and allied sectors that start talking and taking initiatives to develop a Reuse Prevention policy in the state
Ø Develop functional and symbiotic relationships with professional medical associations
Ø Become a partner in the state’s / governments health initiatives

Key Skills Required:

The incumbent should have:
Ø MBBS, MD (PSM) / MBA (Health Administration)/ MSW (Masters in Social Work)
Ø Minimum 5 years of exclusive roles of developing partnerships and interacting with health department on Issue based advocacy

Ø The ability to handle Bureaucrats at State level
Ø KOL / KDM at state and individual hospital level
Ø strong business acumen
Ø Good knowledge on advances in healthcare practices
Ø Understanding of incorporating specifications in a tender
Ø The ability to impact and influence others by clear and comprehensive communications
Ø Good understanding of the government way of functioning
Ø Amicable and a respected personality in the government circles
Ø Ability of drive self and team towards the organizational goals
Ø Have an impetus to constantly reach and exceed expectations laid by the Key stakeholders from across the states
Ø The ability to grasp, identify and logically analyze each option in an objective and scientific manner
