The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) is seeking to recruit a highly qualified Research Assistant in Impact Evaluation at level position of GSS (General Support Staff) to be based at the temporary headquarters of the Institution in Cotonou, Benin.

The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) is an autonomous intergovernmental research association of 24 African member countries. It is one of the 15 international agricultural research Centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Position: Research Assistant in Impact Evaluation

Category: GSS

Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Impact Evaluation Economist, he/she will assist in the impact evaluation of rice technologies on rural households and African economies. Other tasks include: developing research and training methodologies, administering surveys with rural households, supervising field agents, data analysis, writing research reports and collaborating with other scientists in Africa.

Requirements


(1) A Masterís degree or equivalent in agro-economics or economics
(2) Good capacity in quantitative analysis of data
(3) Excellent knowledge in econometrics/statistics and good mastery of administering surveys with households
(4) Good capacity in data analysis using software packages such as STATA, GAUSS, SPSS or SAS (experience in C/C++ will be a major advantage)
(5) Good knowledge of WORD, Excel, ACCESS and web publication software packages
(6) Capacity to work for a long period in rural area and be prepared to travel in the sub-region
(7) Knowledge of rice ecologies would be an advantage
(8) Excellent knowledge of English or French and good working knowledge of the other would be an advantage.

This is a regionally-recruited position and the appointment is for two years with possibility for renewal.
