Deputy Chief of Party (Media)

IREX seeks a Deputy Chief of Party to assist in managing a media development program in Mozambique. The Deputy Chief of Party will assist the Chief of Party (COP) in meeting program objectives and will provide technical expertise in media sector strengthening. The position, which will be based in Maputo, is contingent on funding.

-Assist the COP in overseeing all components of the program
-Provide expertise in the Mozambican media sector and related government and civil society stakeholders
-Assist the COP in monitoring, evaluation and reporting functions
-Leadership and management of program staff
-Management of Mozambican partner organizations and international and Mozambican consultants

-Masterís or higher degree in Journalism, Political Science, International Studies, or other relevant field preferred
-Thorough knowledge and understanding of media issues in Mozambique
-Experience in managing and implementing multi-component, donor-funded programs
-Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and mentor staff
-Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated pro-active approach to problem solving
-Fluency in Portuguese and English required
