In addition to income generated from its clothing recycling program, Planet Aid receives significant funding from USG sources including USAID and USDA. Planet Aid is a member of InterAction, the Global Health Council, the Alliance for Global Food Security, and Aid for Africa.

With the aim of diversifying this existing funding-base, Planet Aid will launch a private sector partnership initiative to increase funding from corporations, foundations, and major-gifts.

We seek an entrepreneurial individual with a proven track record in obtaining funding from corporations, foundations and other private/individual sources to lead this initiative from strategic design to partnership development to writing of proposals and fund-solicitation.

He/she will be charged with a) understanding private sector partners’ motivations and giving targets, b) understanding Planet Aid’s unique mission and international scope and c) building win-win partnerships between Planet Aid and Private sector partners that enable both parties to achieve targets and maximize impact. Part of his/her time will be spent outside of the office in meetings, conferences and other networking events. Some national travel may be required.

The Private Sector Business Development Officer will be part of the International Partnerships team and will work closely with other team members on specific projects. He/she will report to the Director of International Partnerships and the organization’s President.
Experience: Minimum of five years of fundraising experience with a proven record of achieving results. The successful candidate has the ability to draw out the expertise of others, and the ability to develop and present new ideas and approaches for discussion and implementation. He/she should be interested in building upon the existing development operation, and in understanding Planet Aid’s and Federation members’ core capacities and how these capacities can be best communicated to a private sector audience. The successful candidate will have experience building partnerships with corporations with the ability to specify dollars raised and strategies employed. The ideal candidate will have both experience living and working overseas, a passion for international development work and experience in the private sector.
