Chemonics seeks a land conflict specialist to serve as the chief of party for an anticipated three-year, USAID-funded project to support the Liberian government in developing and testing methodologies for resolving land disputes. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include: provide overall technical direction for the project; manage relationships with USAID and project partners; and oversee the project's financial, contractual, and administrative operations.
-Advanced degree in anthropology, political science, or other related social science field required; doctoral or law degree related to land conflict resolution preferred
-Minimum seven years of experience managing complex projects for international donors working on land conflict issues
-Experience assessing both formal and informal land tenure issues in rural, post-conflict settings
-Experience mitigating land conflict and land grabbing to facilitate eventual resettlement and stability
-Experience with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) design and testing and with linking ADR, customary justice systems, and formal justice systems
-Experience working in Africa, particularly in Liberia or other post-conflict zone highly desirable
-Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatility
-Fluency in English required
