EXTENDED TERM CONSULTANT
The South Asia
Environment, Water Resources and Climate Change unit (SASDI) Team of the
New Delhi Office intends to hire an Extended Term Consultant who will be
expected to provide support to the team on strategic communications. The
Extended Term Consultant will work with the South Asia Water Initiative (SAWI)
team to promote the goals of poverty reduction, economic development,
mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and water security and
regional peace through significant and measurable improvements in water
resources management and development at the regional, international basin
and national levels. On offer are unique opportunities to operate in a

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and
support execution of SAWI’s communications strategy;
·
Provide
strategic advice and support to the SAWI team on external communications
with the World Bank’s clients, donors and wider stakeholders in water
resource management, and managing internal communications with World Bank
staff;
·
Identify
relevant civil society organizations interested in water resources
management in SAWI focus countries, establish links with these
organizations and develop strategies to keep them informed and engaged
with the activities of SAWI;
·
Monitor the political economy of the region and in particular
geographical areas where SAWI activities take place, including regular
tracking and analysis of
current
events/projects/issues/sensitivities related to SAWI’s program;
·
Manage
design, production and dissemination of SAWI communications products,
potentially including briefing notes, newsletters, publication series,
web content, etc.
Prerequisites for the
position include:
·
Master's Degree plus 8 years of
relevant experience OR a BA plus 13 years of relevant experience.
·
Fully
proficient in communications approaches, tools and methodologies related
to planning, executing and monitoring communications strategies (i.e.,
campaign management, social marketing, opinion research, outreach
tactics, message targeting, participatory policy development through
deliberative fora and other techniques)
·
Strong
organizational, research and analytical skills
·
Excellent
English verbal and writing skills; in particular, skills in writing for a
variety of audiences, skill in writing and editing news, feature articles
and technical pieces, ability to write/edit in a variety of writing
styles, strong editing and proofreading skills, strong presentation
skills
·
Good and
proven understanding of global and regional water and climate change
issues
·
Proven
ability to work under stress, to prioritize and manage multiple ambiguous
tasks within tight deadlines
·
Good team
player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively
with internal and external partners in a culturally diverse environment
·
Knowledge of
graphics, desktop publishing and print production is desirable)
·
Work
experience in a research institution or like organizations, while
desirable, is not mandatory.
