The Institute of Health Management Research is a premier institute in India and is credited with pioneering the discipline of Health Management in India. IIHMR Kolkata is an upcoming centre of IIHMR Society for states in eastern and north eastern India. At the moment, research and training constitute the thrust areas for the centre.

Applications are invited for a long-term research-project titled, “Future Health Systems (FHS)”, at the Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), Kolkata; a non-profit institution well known for its rigorous and scientific research and training on health systems management in India. FHS-project aims to research on West Bengal’s healthcare systems, with a special emphasis on Sundarbans delta region. Selected candidates based at IIHMR Kolkata office, should be willing for frequent travels to various blocks of Sundarbans or anywhere within West Bengal.

IIHMR Kolkata seeks applications from qualified candidates for the following:

1. Senior Researcher (1 position): Must have a Ph.D/M.Phil in health related research (Public health/Health or Development Economics/Anthropology/Sociology/Human Geography/Demography/Community Development), having at least two years of research experience in population and health sector. Experience in team management would be an added qualification. Job-role: S(he) will have to take a lead role in research, writing grant proposals, research reports, research paper publications and organizing conferences/workshops/trainings.

2. Research Assistant (1 position): Fresh post-graduates / M.Phil in Economics/Anthropology/ Public health/Sociology/Human geography from a recognized university or technical institute. Candidates with strong interest in building career in health sector research are encouraged to apply. Job-role: S(he) would entail assistance in data collection, research activities and organizing conferences/training programmes.

3. Field Coordinator (1 Position): An experienced person with (minimum) Bachelors’ degree from a recognized university. Must have experience in leading teams for data collection for research purpose. Job-role: S(he) would coordinate all field level activities including data collection, networking with local agencies, and monitoring of all field level activities.

4. Communication Manager (1 position): Masters degree in Communication/ Journalism/Public Relations with minimum of 3 years experience in development communications and knowledge of public health issues. Job-role: S(he) should provide inputs to research, documentation, editing and dissemination of research products, maintain public relations materials (i.e., brochure, photo library, videos etc.), able to organize events to showcase IIHMR’s work, maintain liaison with civil society representatives and media agencies
