SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITY
The Senior Financial Services Director oversees the management and direction of financial and project accounting and grant administration for the Foundation’s office in Afghanistan, including compliance, budgeting, financial information processing, and reporting; ensures timely and reliable support to senior management and program/project managers; and is responsible for effective stewardship of financial resources and full compliance with donor financial reporting requirements. The Senior Financial Services Director provides guidance and training to staff as part of the ongoing development of their skills and knowledge and performs other tasks as requested by the Country Representative for assuring the smooth operation of the Foundation’s offices and programs in Afghanistan.

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financial management; a minimum of 8 to 10 years of financial management experience; demonstrated managing of an annual budget of US$25-40 million; supervisory/management, international development and field-based experience; have an excellent understanding of internal controls, contract/project accounting, and budget management; and demonstrated experience managing awards from USAID, other USG, and other bilateral and multilateral donors.

Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities are required. Superior knowledge of data processing systems related to financial/project/budget management and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic, complex, and multicultural office settings are desirable.
