Deputy Chief of Party

Land O'Lakes
Location: Ethiopia

Land O’Lakes is receiving applications for a Deputy Chief of Party on an anticipated USAID-funded Livestock Growth Program in Ethiopia. Land O’Lakes International Development is a non-profit division of the farmer-owned agricultural cooperative, with over 80 years of farm-to-market experience.

Responsibilities: the DCOP will be the key liaison between the project and the Government of Ethiopia, and will engage the host government on various livestock-related institutional and policy reforms and dialogue with other donors and projects. The DCOP will support the Chief of Party in providing leadership management and general technical direction.

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in international development, livestock, agriculture, economics, or related field.
  • Minimum ten years of relevant long-term work experience in the Horn of Africa.
  • Minimum ten years of experience managing and implementing multi-faceted international livestock development programs. 
  • Minimum ten years of experience engaging host governments on livestock-related institutional and policy reforms.
  • Substantial staff management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff in a multi-cultural environment; USAID project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Amharic language skills strongly preferred, but not required.
