IMaCS is a consulting firm with more than 15 years of experience in executing consulting assignments across diverse sectors in India and overseas. IMaCS has been engaged by an UN Agency to provide technical assistance towards financial and human resources management for various programmes in Uttar Pradesh

IMaCS invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of District Leverager for Sonebhadra district. The District Leverager will work with the project team to ensure quality and timely services for children in need of care and protection. The District Leverager will be based in the project district and will work under the overall supervision and technical guidance of the Child Protection Specialist, Lucknow. The District Leverager will also work in good coordination with State Program Communication Consultant, State Education Consultant and State M & E Consultant based in Lucknow and District Education Consultants/Program Communication Consultants based in project district

Details of tasks

·           Conduct participatory planning and implementation exercises to identify problems and community - driven actions, particularly for socially excluded groups and populations

·           Work with partner NGOs and other resource agencies to mobilize communities & raise awareness at the grassroots around child rights and child protection

·           Together with the Child Protection specialist, assist partners and the district administration to effectively roll out the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) with a view to creating a protective environment for vulnerable, exploited, abused and neglected children in project areas

·           Build effective grassroots governance structures by supporting the DWCD establish and strengthen statutory committees (District Child Protection Societies/Block Child Protection Societies/Village Child Protection Societies) in accordance with ICPS

·           Support the Child Protection specialist and Education Officer develop and implement a training plan, with a focus on juvenile justice and child labour enforcement and rehabilitation, for government duty – bearers working in the Department of Women and Child (DWCD), Labour and Education Department

·           With support from the Child Protection specialist & Advocacy and Partnerships Section, implement an advocacy plan which would aid in increasing access to basic services for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded groups

Qualification and Experience:

·           Post graduate degree in social work, rural management, rural development, gender studies

·           Minimum two years work experience

·           Good understanding of child protection issues, particularly in the areas of juvenile justice; non – institutional or community – based care; child labour.

·           Work experience in implementation of integrated participatory planning and implementation

·           Experience in community mobilization and awareness generation at the grassroots

·           Experience working with government service delivery mechanisms & government line departments concerned with social & child development

·           Strong interpersonal, coordination and networking skills

·           Good oral and written command over Hindi and English

Contract Duration and Appointment:

Initially for one year, but renewable based on satisfactory performance.  .The professional fee is Rs 50000 per month and additional support costs for travel, communications, insurance and contingencies.
