Unit Head and under the direct
guidance and supervision of
the Programme Officer – SA SRO EVAW Unit, the Programme Assistant
will undertake the following key tasks and other responsibilities as
may be assigned.
Functions / Key Results Expected
of Key Functions:
* Support to formulation
of programme strategies and the UN WOMEN Strategic Plan for UN WOMEN
* Support to management
of the UN WOMEN SA SRO EVAW Unit
* Administrative support
to the SA SRO EVAW Unit
* Support to resource
* Support to knowledge
building and knowledge sharing
Supports formulation of programme
strategies and the UN WOMEN Strategic Plan focusing on
achievement of the following results:
Collection, analysis and presentation of
information for identification of areas for support and programme
background papers on information needed by the project to enable
effective implementation. This will require desk research and other
secondary research as and when needed.
Support the project team with report preparation
and documentation as and when needed
Provides effective support to
management of the SA SRO EVAW Unit focusing on the achievement of
the following results:
Liaise and backstop project partners and
functionaries on programme activities
Creation of projects in Atlas, preparation of
budget revisions, revision of project award and project status,
determination of unutilized funds, operational and financial closure
of a project.
Presentation of information for audit of UN WOMEN
Provides administrative support
to the SA SRO EVAW Unit focusing on achievement of the
the internal expenditures control system including timely corrective
actions on un-posted vouchers, including the vouchers with budget
check errors, match exceptions, unapproved vouchers.
Creation of requisitions in Atlas for development
projects, register of goods receipt in Atlas, generate regular
expenditure reports from ATLAS
mobilization focusing on achievement of the following
Review of contributions agreement, managing
contributions in Atlas.
Supports knowledge building and
knowledge sharing focusing on achievement of the following
meetings, workshops, dialogues, etc. as part of the project
Periodic reporting on ongoing activities
Maintain all records relating to the project and
related programmes in a user friendly manner
Organise /arrange meetings with government
departments and NGO partners as and when needed.
Develop a pool of contemporary literature on
related subjects for reference and use by the project team.
Participation in the trainings and meetings for
the operations/ projects staff on programme.
Contributions to knowledge networks and
communities of practice.

task assigned by the SA SRO EVAW Unit.

The key results have an impact on the overall
performance of the SA SRO EVAW Unit and success in implementation of
programme strategies. Accurate analysis, data entry and presentation
of information ensure proper programme implementation of the UN WOMEN
programmes in the South Asia Region.

5 years of progressively responsible programmatic
and administrative experience is required at the national or
international level. Knowledge of UN rules and regulations and
working experience with UN agencies will be an asset but is not
mandatory. Experience in the usage of computers and office software
packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet
and database packages, experience in handling of web based management
in English and working knowledge of the language of the duty station.
