Announcement of Vacancy in M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation    Ref: MSSRF/IDRC-Mega-1/ 2011   The following vacancies are under a project “Alleviation of Poverty and Malnutrition in Agro-biodiversity Hotspots” being supported by the International Development Research of Canada and jointly implemented at three locations (Koraput in Orissa, Wayanad in Kerala and Kolli Hills in Tamil Nadu) by the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation and University of Alberta, Canada. This project aims at conducting action research on improved small farm income generation and household nutrition through integrated, participatory and sustainable farm productivity and non-farm enterprises.   Application should include full biodata providing complete academic record from SSLC, stating areas of specialization, academic achievement, nature and duration of experience, full address and telephone number of two most recent employers, names and addresses of two referees who have close familiarity with the professional strength and character of the candidate, current address, recent photo, telephone and e-mail ID. Vacancy 2:  Principal Scientific Officer (Agricultural Economics) – one post at MSSRF, Chennai
Job Description	The PSO (Agri Economics) will be required to possess excellent knowledge on application of agriculture for poverty alleviation and improved nutrition and to provide effective leadership to all project staff at village level in the three project locations in all social science related studies. Innovative skill in designing and conducting action research in convergence with biological scientists and social scientists of University of Alberta, ability in benchmark and project impact surveys, cost-benefit analysis of on-farm and off-farm interventions and other data collection, its analysis, presentation and publication are essential.
Minimum qualification	Essential: Ph.D Agricultural Economics or Economics with research experience in Agriculture with at least five years experience or M.Sc in Agricultural Economics with ten years experience in areas (agriculture, poverty and nutrition) as evidenced from track record/high impact publications. Proven skills in field based farm research, small farm participatory work, data processing and analysis, modeling, quality report writing and presentation and proficiency in computer application are also important. Proficiency either in Oriya, Tamil or Malayalam will be desirable.   Persons retired from public/private service, but below 60 years and in good health may also apply.
Remuneration:	Up to Rs 50,000/month (consolidated, depends on the suitability of candidate)
Duration	The tenure of appointment is for about 42 months with immediate effect. MSSRF has an employment policy to absorb and retain promising candidates and promote their career. However, the entry for all regular positions is only through project placements.
