• Based in Port Moresby (Periodic in-country inputs will be considered by applicants based elsewhere); Travel to provincial locations will be required
The Sub National Strategy (SNS) is a partnership between the Government of Australia and Government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) for improved service delivery for the men, women and children of Papua New Guinea. SNS is Australia’s mechanism to support initiatives of the Government of PNG that aim to improve public administration within the sub-national levels of government. SNS is currently seeking a Public Financial Management Specialist to assist in achieving these goals.
The Public Financial Management (PFM) Specialist will provide analysis and advice on PFM matters to AusAID to ensure improved and effective service delivery in Papua New Guinea, with a particular focus on sub-national governments. The Consultant will also provide advice on how AusAID’s Sub National Strategy and other AusAID programs can improve their approach to financial management processes, internal controls, systems and practices to help align with PNG government systems, harmonize with other development partners and achieve service delivery outcomes.
To be considered for this position, applicants will need to have advanced qualifications, demonstrate a commitment to development effectiveness principles and achieving the millennium development goals and possess significant experience providing high quality advice and strategic guidance on public financial management improvement and reform issues, in a developing country context. High level cross cultural communication and interpersonal skills and experience working with a range of stakeholders will be integral to your success.
