Summary

The Specialist, MNH/RH is responsible for providing management, programmatic support and documentation to MNH/RH programs. S/he will specifically support SC’s program with Johnson and Johnson as well as program backstopping and grants management, documentation of programs and innovations, and support for partnerships, donor relations and program/proposal development for DHN. The Specialist supports the work of the Reproductive Health department strategic and operational planning, including monitoring and internal reporting of the programs and documentation of results and lessons learned. The Specialist will support grants management and program management support in DHN.

Responsibilities
Program Support
Support the design and management of SC –MNH/RH country and global/regional programs, provide program support and ensure high quality programs through regular monitoring and oversight of assigned country programs. Specific responsibilities include:
• Provide program support to the Johnson and Johnson funded program for the roll out of Helping Babies Breathe (HBB)
• Provide program support to country programs in close collaboration with the RH team
• Ensure smooth functioning during program planning, development, implementation and management of program activities
• Contribute to SC annual work planning and assist field staff with development of country work plans
• Participate in monitoring and evaluation of country activities and assist in documentation and dissemination of results
• Assist in preparation/planning of meetings
• Work collaboratively with finance and grants management staff to prepare and track project budgets and spending
• Ensure compliance with SC operational policies and regulations.
• Travel to country offices/programs (approx 20 %).


Coordination and Partnership
• Support coordination with donor (Johnson and Johnson) through planning of taskforce meeting
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SC MNH/RH/AHNportfolio and represent SC as may be appropriate at HO and CO levels
• Ensure program coordination between MNH/RH /AHN Programs, especially where programs overlap or complement each other
• Work in close collaboration with the SC MNH /RH/AHN technical and program teams and finance and grants team
Strategic and Operational Planning
• Support several aspects of strategic and operational planning processes for SC MNH/RH/AHN programs and contribute to DHN strategic and operational planning as necessary.
• Collaborate and assist in developing short-term plans and priorities for HO led program support to SC MNH countries.


Innovation and Program Documentation
• Keep abreast of program innovations, tools and processes.
• Support the documentation of MNH/RH /AHN programming and best practices within SC country programs.
• Provide support to SC MNH/RH /AHN program quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports
• Support knowledge management and sharing efforts


Program/Proposal Development
• Establish and maintain contacts with key SC-HO and CO technical staff regarding new proposals and program development
• In collaboration with the MNH/RH/AHN team, assist in coordinating and developing SC response to new country program descriptions
Human Resource Management /Other
• Support and mentor CO staff.
• Support other duties, as identified by the technical team leaders


Requirements

• Masters degree in public health or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years experience supporting international health programs
• Knowledge of maternal or reproductive health is an advantage
• Strong management and coordination skills,
• Excellent presentation skills and verbal and written communications skills
• Demonstrated collaborative relationship with field-based international donor agencies
• Experience in the development of operational plans in cooperation with other team members
• Ability to interact with established networks of health professionals, donors, and other partners
• Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming and the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously
• Appreciation for economic and socio-cultural differences in countries, preferably having lived and worked in a low resource setting
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to program implementing countries
• Establishes course of action for self and others, as necessary and ensures work is completed efficiently and effectively in accordance with SC values
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and fluency/working knowledge in French will be an advantage
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks
• Demonstrates ability to balance focus on task with attention to relationships; identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders, internally, and cross functionally; and externally establishes and promotes trust to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships with key groups (internal and external) to the organization.
• Strong change management, results oriented and decision making skills
• Demonstrates SC Core Values of ACE-IT
• Willingness to travel up to 20%
